One of the lines of research being developed in the engineering laboratories of Niccolò Cusano University is the design of a new type of sensor for the combustion chambers of vehicle engines. These sensors can furnish information on the control and operation of the engine in ways that have not been possible before now. The information they provide will help in the development of new monitoring systems that are accurate and efficient, and which will improve engine performance, with subsequent positive results in energy saving and the reduction of noxious emissions. The Engineering Department of Unicusano is designing a type of sensor for internal combustion engines which uses a membrane of carbon silicate, a material that retains its properties even at high temperatures. At the moment the research is in its initial stages, and we will keep you informed about this important green project as it develops.
